Hate

I know. Hate is a strong word.

And, as I always say, so is love.

Stronger, even.

So let’s dive into those strong emotions!

I am here to say that sometimes teachers hate. Hate-able things like

  • nonsensical mandates

  • meddling parents

  • incompetent colleagues or administrators

  • COVID

  • ever-increasing demands on their time and energy

  • uncooperative students

If you’re one of these teachers who sometimes hates — and GOD KNOWS I am one — then

take heart.

Hate is just another emotion that provides incredibly useful data about your relationships.

As it did for Penelope.

Listen to the latest episode of Teachers’ Lounge with Betsy Burris to hear how Penelope’s strong dislike (read: hate) for and complete disconnection from one of her students turned into care, attachment, and growth — for both of them.

It happened for her. It can happen for you.

Listen.

Subscribe, even.
