Attachment Figures

Attachment figures are not lovey-dovey and fuzzy-wuzzy.

They are

hard-core.

They are devoted developmental partners who

  • set limits and hold the line

  • avoid caving

  • refuse to overwhelm or retaliate

  • look intently so they can see and mirror accurately

  • feel curiosity about their charges

  • survive intense pushback

  • care

  • love

  • know how to self-regulate

  • turn to appropriate (adult) allies to debrief and revive

  • nurture strong personal boundaries

  • value themselves

  • expect to be used, sometimes ruthlessly

  • communicate honestly

  • model healthy connection

  • show up

  • know their worth (which is priceless)

Any questions?

Mantra: I’m an attachment warrior today.
