Where's the Data?

Another mantra. One I hear frequently from teachers who have worked with me in Teacher Support Groups.

Data being

  • observations of behaviors and events

    AND

  • your own emotions.

Feeling upset? Find the data. Look inside and describe what you feel. Look outside and describe what you see. What just happened? What happened before that? How might your emotions and your observations be connected?

Where are the patterns?

Try it this week. Where’s the data? (Or, if you want to be grammatically correct, Where are the data?)

If you can get good at finding the data, you are on your way to being able to transform your teaching experience. And your relationships in general.

Guaranteed.

P.S. Welcome to summer.
