Woke White People

If we white people want to root out our racism, we have to figure out how to talk to each other.

And by “talk,” I don’t mean

harangue

attack

accuse

abuse

demonize

berate

ridicule

or

shame.

By “talk,” I mean

teach.

Which is a fine art, a craft, a complex skill that requires teachers to be

the very best people they can be.

That’s what we white folk need to aspire to if we are to root out our racism. In my view.

For woke white people, then, here’s a possible mantra: Today, I teach.
